VENGENCE IS MINE SAYS THE LORD

Published by hhhjr1 at 10:45 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

As a Believer, who abhors abortion, I want to cry out against the murder of late term abortionist George Tiller.

First, though, a word about abortion to put things in context. The rightness or wrongness of abortion boils down to one thing the sanctity of life in God’s eyes.

  • Genesis 1: 27, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them.”
  • Jeremiah 1: 5, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you: I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
  • Psalms 139: 13, a Psalm of David, “For You (God) formed my (David) inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.”
  • Romans 5: 8, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Now, to put the preceding verses into one thought showing the sanctity of life in God’s eyes. We were created in His image. Image means a representative of God. He says before He formed us, in our mother’s womb, He knew us, and through David He says we are wonderfully made. Then, He died for us. Is that not sanctity of life?

But, regardless of the travesty of abortion, murder is wrong. The murder of someone we feel to be a murderer does not make murder right. What then is right for something like abortion, or any law biblically wrong?

It’s very simple, Romans 12: 19, “Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengence is Mine, I will repay” says the Lord.”

We leave it up to God because aborted babies are life He created. He will avenge their lives, either now or in eternity. He is the One who is sovereign, not us.

Now, I hear the logical argument about those on death row, put there by the courts. Why shouldn’t they be left to God’s judgement like an abortionist?

The answer is the law, which is a Godly institution, see previous blog.

The Federal government  interprets what constitutes murder, and the States regulate their laws within those boundaries. We are to obey the law right, wrong, or indifferent, as long as it does not force us to break God’s laws.

Those who make up government are accountable to God. They will answer as to why this or that was or was not a law. His vengence will be wrought on them. If we take the law into our own hands we, too, will face His wrath.

When we don’t agree with a law, and even if we know, biblically, the law is wrong we are to obey, because vengence belongs to God.

God does not need our help. His plan for redemption was instituted in eternity past. So, no matter your feelings about a situation obey Him, because that’s where the buck stops.

Isaiah 45: 5-7 sums it up. “I am the LORD, and there is no other; there is no God besides me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me, that they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting that there is none besides Me.” I am the LORD, and there is no other; I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the LORD, do all these things.”

….”I, the LORD, do all these things,” that includes vengence.
